Beartooth Group
A custom pipeline platform that doubled Beartooth's watchlist, surfaced two multi-million-dollar deals, and delivered 7.5x ROI in year one.
Brought every active ranch listing in the Greater Yellowstone region into one place, surfaced two multi-million-dollar deals the team would not have made before, and gave Beartooth's analysts and ranch managers faster, sharper market intelligence than the brokers they sit across from.
ROI in year one
Pipeline coverage across three states
Watchlist doubled, first week
“This is exactly what we needed. We didn’t have this data before — we couldn’t be evidence-based. Now we can.”
James Grenzebach
COO, Beartooth Group
The client
Beartooth Group brings institutional capital to conservation-oriented ranch ownership across the Greater Yellowstone region. Founded in 2005, the Bozeman-based private equity firm makes ranch properties more valuable financially and ecologically. Its edge is intimate knowledge of the western ranch market across hundreds of miles and dozens of counties in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming.
The problem
Beartooth had the market knowledge. It didn't have a system that could keep up with it.
Property data lived across more than a dozen listing sites in three states. Team members spent hours every week clicking through broker websites and MLS feeds to catch what was new and what had changed. The pipeline spreadsheet that anchored their workflow ran on stale prices, stale acreage, and stale status flags. The previous summer's intern had built an Excel tracker that approximated what the firm needed; the file is gone, and the institutional memory with it.
In a fund context, every missed listing is a potential return swing. The firm needed durable infrastructure.
Why Beartooth picked Intuitive Intel
Three things mattered: speed to value, a working prototype the team could shape from real use rather than from a spec, and the decision to build into Beartooth's existing Excel workflow instead of forcing a new tool on them.
What we built
A data aggregation system pulls from 13 ranch real estate listing sources weekly. The platform deduplicates properties across sites and tracks the full history of every listing: price changes, status flips, acreage corrections, sale outcomes. It all lives in a Supabase database, with the original property descriptions and source documents stored alongside the structured fields, so the data lives on even if the source listing doesn't.
The team works the platform two ways: through their existing Excel sheet, now wired to live views of new listings, changed listings, and pipeline flags worth a broker conversation; and through an org-wide Claude subscription with a custom MCP that lets any team member ask their phone, in plain English, for comps, market positioning, or a county-level slice of the market.
Outcomes
Two multi-million-dollar deals already moving
In its first months in production, the platform paid back the way it was built to. Beartooth sourced a multi-million-dollar purchase offer directly from the database, on a property that surfaced from the platform rather than from a broker or a manual scan. The team also pursued a second multi-million-dollar “boots on the ground” offer on a property they would not have had the bandwidth to chase in the old workflow, made possible by capacity the platform recovered from manual listing monitoring. The system delivered 7.5x ROI in year one.
Coverage and accuracy
The pipeline went from stale and incomplete to 95% coverage of active listings across three states. The watchlist doubled in the first week of production. In a supply-constrained market, that gap was the cost of the old workflow. Data corrections to acreage, price, and status flow through the database automatically.
Comp analysis from anywhere
Comp analysis used to span dozens of brokerage websites. A team member clicked through multiple platforms to reconcile listings into a usable view of comparable properties. Now the entire dataset of comparable properties (current listings, past listings, and price-at-sale context) lives in one place. In the field, a team member pulls quick comps from a phone through the Claude interface in seconds. At the desk, the same dataset supports detailed market analysis via direct SQL queries and an MCP in the database.
Better market knowledge at a phone's reach
Beartooth's analysts and ranch managers can pull live market intelligence from their phones in seconds. In conversations with brokers who have decades of experience in the field, they're walking out holding more insight than those brokers have built up over their careers. Not because the people changed, but because the dataset behind them did.
